Leo Rodriguez and wife Rita have made Friday nights at Oracle Park a tradition. With the introduction of SportsHosts to the Giants this year, 2019 has seen them show off the bleachers, the bars and their beloved Giants to guests from all over the world whilst strengthening their connection to the team and the city!
Read on as our Host of the Week, Leo Rodriguez, shares his story of becoming a Giants fan:
Tell us the story of becoming a Giants fan.
I was born a Giants fan. My Dad was a lifelong Metropolitans fan because he was born in New York. I was born in San Jose and used the same logic. I was also born on Halloween so orange and black were always my colors.
What do you love most about going to Giants games?
The atmosphere, there is nothing like the roar of the crowd on a sunny day at the ballpark.
What's your favourite Giants memory?
During the 2010 world series I hadn't missed a game but one of the games fell on the same day as a midterm. The teacher was a baseball fan and I asked him to put the score on the board and he did. I took a 3 hour exam while imaging the game based on chalk numbers.
Why did you sign up to be a host?
I was a season ticket holder in 2017 and I know the park like the back of my hand. I thought it would be nice to share my knowledge.
What was the hosting experience like?
It was a lot of fun, I was surprised at how little people from other countries know about baseball. I enjoyed answering all there questions and finding the right answer to the ones I didn't know.
