CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Competition, Promoter & Promotion Partner
1.1. By entering the “The Ultimate New York Sports Experience Competition” and in consideration for the opportunity to win the prize associated with the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by and observe these Conditions of Entry. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these Conditions of Entry.
1.2. The Promoter of the Competition is Global Hosts Pty Ltd (ABN 26 611 434 489) trading as sportshosts.com of, 10 Watersons Road, Tarrengower Victoria 3463 (Promoter), phone 0447 741 213
1.3. The Promoter will be supported throughout the competition with promotion of the competition from Melbourne Football Club (ABN 27 005 686 902) (Promotion Partner)
2. Who may enter
2.1. Subject to paragraph 2.3, entry into the Competition is open to all permanent residents of Australia aged 18 years or over.
2.2. Each eligible entrant may enter only once but will receive additional entries by undertaken the items listed in clause 6.1
2.3. The officers, management and employees (and immediate family members of officers, management and employees) of the Promoter and Promotion Partner are not eligible to enter the Competition.
3. Competition Period
3.1. The Competition commences at 9:00am Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) on 11th March 2019 and closes at 3:20pm AEDT on 16 August 2019 (Competition Period).
3.2. Entries not received during the Competition Period will not be eligible to win.
4. How to enter
4.1. Eligible entrants must:
- Register with sportshosts.com as a host, complete the host profile and GameDay listing, accept requests from international visitors and host the accepted visitors at a Melbourne Football Club home game.
2. Following the entrant, hosting international visitors to a Melbourne Football Club home game, the entrant will officially
receive entry into the competition
3. As part of the entry registration it is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure all personal and contact details are correct.
4. Ensure they agree they have read the Terms & Conditions provided. Entry into the competition is taken as the entrant as
having read and agreed to the terms and conditions.
4.2. The entrant will indemnify the Promoter and the Promotional Partner against all loss, damage and liabilities arising from a breach of any of the conditions set out in these terms and conditions.
4.3. Competition Period; 9:00am Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) on 11th March 2019 and closes at 3:20pm AEDT on 16 August 2019.
5.1. The Competition is NOT A game of skill. Chance WILL play a part in determining the winner, as the winner will be randomly selected.
5.2. A total of 1 person will be eligible to win the award in the Competition:
- One (1) Overall Prize
- Zero (0) runner-up prizes
5.3. The maximum total RRP value of the prize pool for the Competition is valued at A$8,000 (including GST).
6. Selection of the winner
6.1. Each individual entrant is able to earn additional entries (chances to win) by undertaking the following:
Each game day the entrant takes international visitors secured through sportshosts.com to a Melbourne Football Club home game will earn an additional entry into the competition. i.e. if the entant hosts one GameDay (taking international visitors secured through sportshosts.com to a Melbourne Football Club home game) they will earn one entry, if they host five individual game days (taking international visitors secured through sportshosts.com to five Melbourne Football Club home games), they will earn 5 entries.
If the host receives a positive review on the SportsHosts website from an international visitor they hosted they will earn 2 additional entries per positive review.
If the hosts shares their GameDay of taking international visitors secured through sportshosts.com to a Melbourne Football Club home game on social media by tagging the post #sportshosts they will earn an additional 2 entries per post, limited to two posts per event.
All hosts, hosting at the Welcome Day Game, Round 1 Melbourne vs Port Adelaide will receive 3 additional entries in the competition
As part of a referral program conducted through the software platform UpViral, hosts can collect points for specific actions. Points tallied to 100 will earn the host 1 additional entry into the competition.
If the host writes a positive review about SportsHosts on any of Google, Facebook and Tripadvisor, the will receive 50 points.
If the host shares the campaign across any of the listed social platforms they will earn 25 points
If the host shares images of their gameday experience and tags @sportshosts or #sportshosts across any of the listed social platforms they will earn 100 points per image with a maximum of 200 points earned per gameday
6.2 All valid entries received by the Promoter during the Competition Period will go into the draw and using random selection software one winner will be selected receive the Overall Prize.
6.3. The winner draw will take place on 16 August 2019 at The Melbourne Cricket Ground, Cremorne.
6.4. The Prize winner will be notified by telephone on 17 August 2019 and the name of the Prize winner will also be published by 17 August 2019 on SportsHosts website sportshosts.com
7. Overall Prize
7.1.. The prize is
- Return economy class airfares for the prize winner from the Australian capital city nearest to the prize winner’s place of residence to any major destination of the winners choice. Total costs of the two airfares combined cannot exceed AUD$4000
- Two general admission tickets to the winners to an NBA sporting event subject to availability through the official ticket provider or other legitimate online ticketing providers (as deemed by SportsHosts). Combined ticket value of two tickets cannot exceed AUD$700
- Accommodation for 5 nights in New York will be in twin shared room or similar, total value of accommodation cannot exceed AUD$1500
- Spending money of AUD$1000 to the winner only
- SportsHosts will arrange for local hosts who will be fans of the NBA team, to host the winner and their guest at a pre and/or post game social event and at the game.
7.2. The winner agrees and acknowledges that the prize includes both the winner and winner’s guest to agree to be filmed on the GameDay they attend for use by the SportsHosts and the Melbourne Football Club and the winner’s and winner’s guest image will be used for ongoing promotional purposes.
Before the prize is awarded, the winner and the winners guest will be required to sign an agreement consenting to the use of their image, name, entry and/or voice in any media for an unlimited period of time without remuneration for the purpose of promoting SportsHosts and the Melbourne Football Club (including any outcome).
7.3. The winner will be required to attend the selected team sports event (including pre and post game related social activities) with the Promoter’s camera crew.
7.4. The maximum total value of the Overall Prize is AUD$8,000 (including GST).
7.5. The Overall Prize winner is responsible for all expenses not specified in these Conditions of Entry, including but not limited to transport to and from the Overall Prize winner’s place of residence to the nearest capital city airport, any meals and beverages, insurance (including medical, travel and health), items of a personal nature (including but not limited to in-room charges, tips, telephone and laundry) and all other ancillary costs.
- The winner must allow a minimum of 6 weeks prior to requested departure for SportsHosts to be able to complete the required bookings.
- All requests are subject to availability of flights, accommodation and tickets to the event. If SportsHosts is unable to secure bookings any of these three requirements, the winner will need to select another destination and or/event until such time as SportsHosts is able to secure all three required bookings.
- Prize travel is subject to fare rules and other conditions of carriage. The Overall Prize winner can upgrade any prize travel or prize accommodation using cash if agreed by SportsHosts once the request is received from the winner.
- Prize travel may not be changed by the Overall Prize winner under any circumstances. If the Overall Prize winner cannot travel in accordance with these Conditions of Entry, the prize will be forfeited.If for any reason the Overall Prize winner elects not to travel on the flights agreed in paragraph 7.6(a) & (b) above, the flights will be forfeited and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the flights. Bookings will be made by the Promoter. Flight schedules and accommodation arrangements are subject to change without notice.
7.8 The winner must confirm their availability with SportsHosts within 7 days of being award the prize. If the winner fails to do so via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via phoning Darren Walls, at SportsHosts on 0447 741 213. Failure to do so means the winners prize will be forfeited and SportsHosts will randomly redraw the prize subject to approval by the State regulatory bodies.
7.9 The winner must agree to travel and attend a team sports event between October 15th 2018 and January 31 2019.
7.10 The winner must agree to undertake any media required by SportsHosts and/or the Melbourne Football Club.
8. Notification of prize winners
8.1. The Prize winner will be notified by telephone on 17 August 2019 and the winners name will be announced on the SportsHosts website: sportshosts.com
8.2. The prize winner must accept the Prize as detailed in clause 7.6.
9. Information for prize winners
9.1. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and must be taken as offered. In the event that any element of a prize is not available, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, subject to written directions from State regulatory bodies.
9.2. The prize winner is responsible for all expenses not specified in these Conditions of Entry.
9.3. The Promoter does not accept responsibility and is not liable for any additional conditions imposed on the taking of the prize or the breach of those conditions by any person.
9.4. All entrants agree to provide the Promoter or the Promoter’s authorised agent with identification and proof of age if selected as a prize winner. In accepting the prize, the prize winner agrees to the limitation of liability set out below. The form of identification and proof of age are at the discretion of the Promoter.
10. Unclaimed prizes
10.1. In the event of the major prize not being accepted or claimed under clause 7.6 or is otherwise forfeited despite the Promoter making all reasonable efforts to notify the winner, and due to travel date requirements, the relevant winner's entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter reserves the right to reconvene conduct a further random selection, subject to written directions from State regulatory bodies.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1 Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded (including as set out under paragraph 11.2), the Promoter, its related corporations and associated agencies (and any of their personnel) and the promotion partner exclude all liability for any loss (including any damage, claim, injury, cost or expense) which is suffered or incurred by any entrant (including the prize winner and their companion) in connection with the Competition or a prize, including, without limitation: (i) any indirect, economic or consequential loss; (ii) any loss arising from the negligence of the Promoter, its related corporations and associated agencies (and any of their personnel); and (iii) any liability for personal injury or death.
11.2. Nothing in these Conditions of Entry limits, excludes or modifies, or purports to limit, exclude or modify, the statutory implied guarantees/warranties as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and the ASIC Act 2001 (Cth), including the statutory consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, or similar laws in the States and Territories of Australia or in New Zealand.
12.2. By entering the Competition, the entrant agrees that the Promoter will be sharing their personal details with the promotional partner, on any occasion this is required
13.1. By entering the Competition, the prize winner agrees that:
(a) If requested by the Promoter, the prize winner and guest will:
i. Provide comments about the Competition and/or a photograph or audio-visual clip of themselves; and
ii. Participate in a promotional shoot in connection with the Competition;
(b) The Promoter and the promotional partner may use the prize winner’s name, image, comments, photographs or clips (Materials) for publicity and promotional purposes in any form of media, without reference or compensation to the winner or any other person;
(c) The Promoter may use, reproduce, edit and communicate to the public the Materials at any time in any form of media;
(d) The Promoter may license, authorise or otherwise transfer the rights in the Materials to others, including the promotional partner, to do the same; and
(e) The prize winner unconditionally and irrevocably consents to any act or omission that would otherwise infringe any of their moral rights in the Materials and waives all moral rights in the Materials that arise inside or outside Australia.
13.2. In the event that there is a dispute concerning the conduct of this Competition, the Promoter’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
13.3. The prizes remain the property of the Promoter until delivered to the selected prize winner(s) or unclaimed prize winner(s) as the case may be.
13.4. The Promoter shall bear no liability if for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, technical failures or any causes beyond the Promoter’s control which corrupt or affect the fairness or integrity or proper conduct of the Competition. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, modify, terminate or suspend the Competition, subject to written directions from State regulatory bodies.
13.5. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who conspires with others to gain an unfair advantage or who is otherwise involved in manipulating, interfering or tampering with the entry process or any other element of the Competition. The use of any automated entry software or any mechanical, electronic or other means which allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that entrant invalid.
13.6. No responsibility will be taken by the Promoter or its authorised agents for lost, ineligible, misdirected or late entries due to technical reasons or any other reason or due to periods of unavailability of the entry mechanism during the Competition Period.
13.7. The prize winner is advised that tax implications may arise from the prize and should seek independent financial and taxation advice prior to acceptance of the prize. The prize winner is responsible for all taxes (excluding airfare and airport taxes as set out in paragraph 7.1(a) & (b) above and GST) which may be payable as a consequence of receiving a prize.
13.8. It is the entrant’s responsibility to inform the Promoter of any changes to their contact details, including their residential address, e-mail address or daytime telephone number.
13.9 These Conditions of Entry shall be governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia and the courts of Victoria shall have exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any dispute relating to these Conditions of Entry.

14. Role of Melbourne Football Club
14.1 Melbourne Football Club is not a party to this competition in any way whatsoever beyond communicating the offer to Melbourne Football Club fans.
14.2 Melbourne Football Club accepts no responsibility to winner or the winners guests or any other participants in relation to this promotion.
